GUJRANWALA: Dozens of lawyers and members of civil society organised a rally on Wednesday to express solidarity with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Pakistan Armed Forces and other law enforcement agencies for conducting the recent general elections in a peaceful environment. Reportedly, the rally initiated in front of the district commissioner’s office and culminated in front of city police office (CPO). The participants chanted slogans in favour of Pak Army for performing their duties effectively.
Anti-Corruption Establishment arrests land record officer over land fraud
The Anti-Corruption Establishment’s (ACE) Gujranwala branch on Wednesday arrested a land record officer from Narowal for his alleged involvement in a land fraud case. Reportedly, a citizen Muhammad Ismail filed an application with the ACE accusing members of land mafia Munir Ahmed and Zafar Iqbal of transferring property ownership of 11-Kanal land fraudulently in support with the land record officer Muhammad Ashraf. Subsequently, the ACE team raided and arrested Muhammad Ashraf.
CIA police bust gang of bike-lifters
The Crime Investigation Agency’s (CIA) police on Wednesday busted a gang of motorcycle thieves and recovered stolen motorcycles from their possession. Reportedly, the CIA deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Imran Abbas Chadhar informed that the suspects including Nadeem, Sajjad, Amir and Abdul Qayyum had confessed their crime, and that they sold many motorcycles in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on cheap rates. Moreover, the police recovered Rs 600,000 from them.
