The Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister, Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar, has emphasized the importance of providing students with both hard and soft copies of textbooks for online studying. Recognizing that we are in a digital age where children prefer digital content over physical copies, the CM directed the School Education Department to ensure that students have access to both formats.
The directive was given during the launching ceremony of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education website in Mirpurkhas, held at the CM House on Friday. The event was attended by Secretary U&B Noor Ahmad Samoo, Chairman Mirpurkhas Board Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Secretary Board Anisudddin, Controller of Examination Anwar Aleem, and other officials.
In a simple ceremony, the chief minister pressed the key on the computer and officially launched the website of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mirpurkhas. Chairman Zulfiqar Shah briefed the CM about the key features and achievements of the website. He explained that it would offer various online services, including enrollment facilities, examination forms, roll number slips, affiliation facilities, real-time facilitation for students, online verification, duplicate documents, registration of examiners and supervisory staff, informative videos for students and teachers, online results, and correction forms.
Furthermore, the Chairman highlighted that the Mirpurkhas Board was introducing an E-academy for the first time in history, aiming to facilitate students in remote areas of District Tharparkar. This initiative would provide access to educational resources and materials through digital platforms.
To promote co-curricular activities, the board made model papers of SSC and HSC available on its website and launched official social media accounts to facilitate students in far-flung areas of District Tharparkar. An information desk was also established to ensure the availability of updated information daily for students and stakeholders.
The CM was informed that a facilitation center (one-window operation) and a complaint portal had been established to address students’ grievances promptly. Unnecessary document requirements for students were waived. The CM directed all educational boards to transition to online procedures, citing the inefficiency and potential errors associated with manual handling.
In a strategic move to boost tourism in the province, the Sindh government announced the appointment of professional tour guides for all tourist destinations across the province. Provincial Minister for Tourism, Environment, Climate Change, and Coastal Development, Arshad Wali Muhammad, highlighted the importance of trained tour guides in creating memorable experiences for tourists visiting historical and cultural sites in Sindh.
Minister Arshad Wali Muhammad emphasized that professional tour guides play a crucial role in providing comprehensive information about these historical sites, enhancing the overall experience for global tourists. In line with this, Secretary of Tourism and Culture Khalid Chachar has written to the Finance Department, referring to the directives of the High Court, requesting the release of funds for recruiting tourist guides.
This decision demonstrates the government’s commitment to promote Sindh as a premier tourist destination and ensure that visitors receive expert guidance, ultimately contributing to the growth and positive perception of tourism in the province.
